Trafó+1 is a new program series by Thought Generator that provides a meeting point centered around specific performances at Trafó. In October, we will be exploring the work Softloneliness 3 by Zsófi Szász.

Trafó+1 - A new community growing around Trafó

Have you ever wondered who you’re sitting alongside in the audience? Would you like to meet people who are drawn to the same kinds of cultural experiences as you?
We get together around selected events at Trafó: before a performance, film screening or exhibition, we meet for a relaxed, playful get-together to get to know one another and tune into what we’re about to experience together. Then we enjoy the event, and if we feel like it, stay afterwards to talk about it.

The aim of Trafó+1 is to make Trafó a genuine place for encounters, creating opportunities for people who love culture to connect and build new relationships. In November, we’ll meet in connection to the performance Softloneliness 3 - The Sentimental by Zsófia Szász, and take part in an unconventional crochet circle.
Crocheted objects play an important role in the performance, so we’re inviting you to explore its themes together through this shared activity before experiencing the show. And for those who would like to reflect further on what they’ve seen, the evening doesn’t have to end with the performance: we’ll also host a facilitated discussion afterwards.

This is an opportunity to discover the performance from a different perspective, together with new people.

You don’t need to know anyone beforehand. You’re welcome whether you’re an expert crocheter or have never held a crochet hook in your life. All you need is a willingness to connect with others and a sense of curiosity.
Come on your own or bring friends – at Trafó+1, we’re creating a space together where it feels good to arrive, spend time with others and return.

No Need to Over-Crochet

According to the craft brigade of the Threepenny Theater, crochet doesn’t have to be a solitary activity. We don’t have to make something on our own: we can create together, in the same space, for the benefit of the wider community.

During the workshop, everyone will work on a so-called granny square: a simple, square-shaped crocheted piece that each participant can make at their own pace. Never crocheted before? No problem – we’ll guide you through the basics.

But these granny squares aren’t for you to take home. At the end of the session, we’ll gather them all together and crochet them into one large blanket: a shared object that brings together the work of many different hands. In the winter of 2026, this blanket will provide warmth for someone who needs it, wherever they may be and whatever their circumstances.

Softloneliness 3 – The Sentimental

Zsófia Szász is an upcoming young choreographer of Hungary’s contemporary dance scene, known for the sensitivity and complexity of her work. Her new piece, Softloneliness 3 – The Sentimental, is an absurdist contemporary dance musical that explores the creative power of emotions. She is joined in the creative process by collaborators Sasu Korom, Helén Tamaskó and Tara Khozein.
