Willany Leó 15 // festival about the improvisation

    #improfest #artisfree #cantstopwontstop

Willany Leó Improvisation Dance Theater celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2023. While our performances, educational sessions, and Wednesday evening events at Trafó primarily revolve around the art of dance, we would like to draw attention to the indispensable significance of allied arts, without which the special occasions of the past 15 years could not have come into existence.

Space and composition, harmony and dissonance, presence - these are some of the theatrical archetypes that become a part of our daily lives if we are able to recognize them in our routines. Improvisation, whether in dance or instrumental performance, poses challenges to the creator(s) who spontaneously respond as part of a collective creativity, resulting in an unknown optional outcome. Our goal is to convey the concept of improvisation and assist in its understanding for the general audience. With our program, we aim to focus on a detailed presentation of the key role of improvisation both in our performances and through open workshops.
