Máté Mészáros: Máté and I

You always wondered how a choreography is made, but you never knew how to ask about it? Are you curious about the rehearsal process? Now is the time to learn about the - perhaps mysterious - work of choreographers. Máté is waiting in the spaces of Trafó to partner with you in a mutual creation process.

Máté would like to meet one person at a time to find answers to these questions that may seem simple at first glance: What is the stage? - Where does it begin and end? And what is the costume? What can become one? What is music and what is a performance at all?

‘And, if you think at this point that you're surely not up to it, my answer is yes, yes, you're the one I'm waiting for this collaboration, this experience. Not the professionals, the choreographer and dance colleagues - I want to think together with the audience who love theatre and dance about what I do, to break the passive spectator, active performer relationship. I'm interested in what the participants think and feel as they reflect with me on the movement material I'm creating.
This simple thought started this project: I don't know why I dance anymore, I'm curious to know what others think about it.’ (Máté Mészáros)

In the different spaces of Trafó for a total of 15 evenings in March each spectator/participant will have the opportunity to work with Máté for 120 minutes (between 18:00 and 20:00).
Máté awaits collaborators who love theatre and dance, we are looking for non-professionals, not choreographers or fellow dancers.

At the end of the process, on the evening of 2 April (we'll share a separate event soon), we look forward to welcoming everyone who has and has not been involved in the process, when Máté will share what you we created together.

Entry is free of charge, but registration is required.
