Vladimir Sorokin is one of the most controversial and exciting figures in the Russian contemporary literary scene. Considered the ‘enfant terrible’ of Russian public life and modern culture, his works have been translated into to several languages. Sorokin does not believe in the moral power of literature; his view is simply aesthetic, with boundaries set by his demonic fantasy and perceptiveness. His dramas and novels provoke and inspire their environment, making any theatrical adaptation a substantial challenge.
