”Welcome! My name is Dr. Miklós Pumánszky. I’m a dentist, but I like dealing with the rest of the brain too. I met Lajos five years ago during root canal treatment, but it turned out that the young man was in need of a far more complex form of assistance. I found an unchewed piece of food in his mouth, which was determined to likely be from last night’s dinner. He forgot about it. The human brain is often portrayed as a vessel which is filled with a growing amount of information during the course of our lives. Lajos’s brain isn’t a vessel. It’s more like a tube. We warmly welcome everyone interested in our experiments…”
The play was based on the author’s radio-play entitled I Have a Very Bad Memory, which was presented on Hungarian Radio.
