Foreigner masters of gamelan music at Trafo

Surya Kencana A was formed in 2010. Its founders started their gamelan studies years earlier with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Budapest. Subsequently they furthered their instrumental and theoretical knowledge as visiting fellows at a reputed art school in Central Java (Indonesia Institute of the Arts Surakarta; ISI Solo). Since then, they have given numerous concerts with varying members and with comparable success at venues of classical music (e.g., Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music), contemporary music (e.g., FUGA), world music (e.g., Babel Sound), and light music (e.g., Kolorádó Festival).
