L-E-V derives its name from the Hebrew “heart” – OCD Love is in part concerned with matters of the heart. The other chief interest is the obsessive-compulsive disorder, which hinders love. Much of inspiration came from the text OCD by poet Neil Hilborn. This powerful dance performance throbs with Ori Lichtik’s techno beats.

Sharon Eyal has been collaborating with Gai Behar, another key figure of contemporary Israeli art, for over a decade. Ori Lichtik, who is responsible for the music, joined them in 2013, and the three established their own company. Eyal had worked in the Batsheva Dance Company as a dancer and choreographer, while Behar had organized underground events with live music in Tel Aviv car parks and basements.

Trafó’s stage is as fitting a setting for their cooperation as a techno club. Their style blends the Gaga technique inherited from Batsheva with Eyal’s signature androgynous eroticism. Sensual, urban-tribal urges pulsate in an alienated, mechanical world.
