is an auditive choreography that unfolds around and in between the audience. Choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle and composer Yoann Durant are developing a human soundscape that explores the physical power of sound. For every edition of Hear, they work with a choir of local volunteers. This way, every performance has a unique voice. In Budapest they will collaborate again with Soharóza.
Benjamin and Yoann are concerned with sound but go beyond its emitter, receptor and aesthetics. The matter of sound - the being, the becoming, the existence and the visual reality of sound as such.  Hear doesn’t emphasize your physical body, yet its limits are tested, shifting and expanding to other bodies. You are here in Hear. And over there. And there. Sound is everywhere and all the time.

Soharóza – founded in 2008 – experiments and improvises with human voice, language, movement, folk music as well as composed pieces: continually searching for new forms and sounds. The choir performed a slang-opera in a cave, organized gastronomical concerts, hosted a show in an abandoned power-station, and participated in flashmobs in Turkish baths – just to name a few of their unique appearances. The group recorded a studio album entirely of their own material, using different choral improvisational methods. They have recently performed at Trafó in a catwalk-concert, called Taboo Collection. The ensemble’s leader, Dóra Halas, gained her doctorate at the Budapest Music Academy, specializing in Choir Improvisation.
Since graduating from P.A.R.T.S., choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle has created exciting performances and interactions that play with observation and question our way of looking at reality. Hear is another step in his exploration of the perception of movement. He has created a sound choreography with composer and musician Yoann Durant and a choir of volunteers.
