FILM SCREENING
at 6.00pm we are screening Newson’s inspirational, multi-awarded film The Cost of Living (2004).

PRE-SHOW DISCUSSION
at 6.30pm with Lloyd Newson (artistic director of DV8 Physical Theatre) moderated by Ádám Nádasdy (linguist, poet, translator). The talk is in English, the entrance is free, everybody is welcome!

After its Austrian premier in August John, the latest work of England’s probably most out-standing company arrives to Budapest!
Lloyd Newson has interviewed over 50 men, asking them frank, in depth questions about their lives and thoughts on sex, love and personal struggles. Years of crime, drug use and struggling to survive lead John on a search in which his life converges with others in an unexpected place, unknown by most. John authentically depicts real-life stories, combining movement and spoken word. In this new work we get a peek of – what is for many – an unfamiliar world. Similarly to Can we talk about this? the piece will be as polarizing as engaging. Lloyd Newson revolutionary move is the way he creates specific links between dance, physical and verbatim theatre. But from the start it is movement with meaning that matters.

DV8 Physical Theatre's work is about taking risks, aesthetically and physically, about breaking down the barriers between dance, theatre and personal politics and, above all, communicating ideas and feelings clearly and unpretentiously.
